Building Client Web Apps with Backbone.js

Bucketworks (map)

Selected By: Jeremy Dee

Web client applications keep getting better and better. For a developer this means more and more Javascript complexity. Eventually this can devolve into a tangled mess of HTML, CSS, Javascript, and JQuery. Backbone.js is an MVC Javascript framework that brings organization to the client side. This talk will provide an overview and gentle introduction to Backbone.js. We will cover the basics, look at some examples, and see what happens with PHP on the server.

Ken Harris is a senior PHP/C++ developer at Telkonet.com in Milwaukee. He has an MS degree in computer science from UW-Milwaukee and 30 years of computing experience. His current work involves building webservices for Telkonet's energy management networks.

Additionally, Joel Clermont has returned and has a copy of Chris Hartjes' "Grumpy Programmer's Guide to Testable PHP Applications" ebook to raffle off!
